Myths and Truths

As I’m sure one can imagine, there are a lot of myths concerning Mormon Magic Underwear. The number one question always asked is if the undergarments are “magical,” as if the person has special super-human powers and can climb walls – however, this is not the case! Mormons believe they are sacred, but not magical.  They are simple reminders to Mormons of the covenants that they have made in the Temple and to remain true to their religion.

Just like anything that is kept secret, rumors start to swirl and eventually you have people misconstruing simple perceptions, so hopefully this touches on some of those common myths.

Myth #1: Do members wear their garment at all times?  In other words – do they ever take them off?

Truth: Yes. Obvious times such as bathing, swimming, and perhaps sleeping.

Myth #2: Are young children given their first pair at birth?

Truth: No. Adults wear the underwear and only after going to temple. This happens at a later age.

Myth #3: There is only one kind of Mormon Magic Underwear.

Truth: No.  There are different colors and different garments that can be purchased and worn.

Myth #4: Does the underwear give the wearer the ability to fly or be invisible?

Truth: No.  I really hope none of my readers actually believed that :)

Myth #5: If the underwear are washed, will that “wash” out all of the healing power?

Truth: No.  The wearer doesn’t actually believe they are healing, but rather just a reminder of the promises and covenants made at Temple.
